What is plywood?
Plywood is a wood product manufactured out of many sheets of veneer, or plies, pressed together and glued, with their grains going in opposite directions. Plywood is sturdier than regular sheets or panels of wood, because the veneers are laid with their grains opposing, which also causes the wood product to resist warping because the grains pull each other tight. But the layering effect in plywood makes it porous and susceptible to water damage if exposed over time.
What can I do for maintenance?
Wipe the surface with dry cloth or cloth with oil (plant oil such as linseed) or wax. What looks dirty is on the surface oil. Wiping off the oil of the dirty part with detergent containing orange elements etc. is effective.
If the dirt would not come off, you can scrub the surface with a soft sponge with thinned dish detergent. You must scrub along the grains, or you may add new scars on the furniture. After getting rid of the dirt, remember to wipe the water off. Leftover water could cause stains. And then, give the surface an oil finish (linseed oil recommended). This is very important.

How to prevent mold and mildew?
Mildew on wood is cause mainly by the environment where the wood is sitting in. The darkness and the humidity will cause the mildew to grow. Placing a dehumidifier in the room will remove the moisture from the air. Without moisture there is no humidity and mildew will not grow.
How to remove mold and mildew from wood?
Grab a stiff brush and brush away loose mold spores. Mix the mild detergent with water in the bucket. Moisten a soft cloth with the mixture and wring it out completely.
